Sky Events Calendar is an independent website: Full moons, eclipses and meteor showers, with times you can plan around.
We list the sky events anyone can plan an evening around: full moons, solar and lunar eclipses, the peaks of the major meteor showers and the best-placed planets. Every date is given in UTC, and the main pages also convert it to local time for a range of cities, so you can tell at a glance whether an event happens during your night.

How we check information
Moon phases, planet events, seasons and eclipse contact times are computed with the open-source astronomy-engine library. The list of eclipses and their types, magnitudes and durations comes from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s eclipse tables, and meteor shower dates and rates from the International Meteor Organization’s annual calendar. Each data page names its sources and shows when the data was last refreshed; the data is recomputed every week. Where our computed times differ from a published source by a minute or two, that is rounding. If you find a mistake, please tell us.
